Engine colour?

Postby jpsmit » Thu Oct 27, 2011 2:21 am

For the GT it appears as though the engine has never been painted - Is this true? If I were to paint it (I like painted engines) is there an appropriate "Vauxhall" colour? I know there is GM orange but with the car being Orange it seems like overkill. I just bought 2 cans of MOPAR turquoise engine paint - I love the colour but wonder about a MOPAR colour on a Vauxhall. thoughts?

Hi,

as far as i know standard engines were black, the 90 engine was red and recon engines were a light blue colour

ive painted my magnum engine in a satin black enamel, looks tidy and not too flash.. and wont show up the muck as much when that inevitable oil dribble starts

GT engines were boring black, no special colour used :) however feel free to paint it any colour that you think suits the car, after all it is your car !

they were also painted black with manifolds bolted to engine. They always has some level of paint on the flanges. They did not bother to cover these very much...........

correct, lots of the after-market companies that recon'd engine painted them blue....

I have found in the past the engine numbers are generally covered over with another suck on plate with the new number, that the recon company uses..
