Suspect it will start to weap oil in places unwelcome after things getting up to temperature and its had a much longer trip on the roads. I am guessing its not far form MOT standard (other than the rotten chassis rail section we saw earlier).

All you need now is a nice HA SL to make the whole family :D

Radiator needs flushing out
Petrol tank needs cleaning out
Brakes need looking at
Exhaust silencer needs repairing
Chassis needs welding as pictured and where the gearbox cross member bolts
Passenger floor needs welding, under the petrol tank and spare wheel well

Apart from that there’s not a lot to do to get it back on the road but it’ll have to wait for now as my black ha needs suspension work doing first :)

Thats amazing, all this time and it runs as sweet as that. No smoke from your driving up and down the road. The initial smoke would ahve been from the diesel/WD40.

Hope it was just the diesel/WD40 clearing, it runs and starts so good it would be a shame if it was burning oil

but i can’t see why you would have all these oil/stop smoke containers in the boot if it wasn’t burning oil :(

Seriously impressed, the red HC I got for the engine had been stored in a garage for 10 years and the electrics had corroded so much I bypassed what I could. Dash lights wouldn't work, solenoid etc was buggered. This is great stuff, and seriously making me want an HA.

Just a quick update

No work has been done yet but I’ve had a good look underneath and it’s nice and solid apart from the areas already mentioned

it still starts and runs great and still puffs smoke, the plan it to leave the engine and just run it and see how bad it is when its on the road, obviously if it smokes a lot and a danger to other road users then it will have to be stripped down

Hopefully it might be ready for the car shows next year :)

generally its the piston rings that let oil past them and get burnt when the engine runs, as you use it the rings should re seat on the bores and the smoke should lessen.... if it doesnt then as you rightly know the engine will need a quick strip down a hone and try again with new rings

the boot floor is a right mess due to layers of damp carpet sitting in there for 23 years,
