I shan't be trying that then heh!
Also just somehow managed to get hold of a manifold to fit a Nikki carb or possibly a similar Weber, they're not quite sure what it is... Still can't complain though!

The manifolds for the Nikki and Weber are similar but not quite the same where the carb bolts on. Measure and check before you buy a carb!!

Yeah I heard they were very similar, I hope it's a Weber one though! I just found in the shed a Weber 32/34 DMTL... Hopefully ill be able to find some use for this, they're supposedly good carbs with good progression and were used on a few different cars. Would be nice to have it on the Viva but if it doesn't fit I'm sure ill fine a use for it!
Will also, weather permitting, be putting a Bosch alternator on tomorrow to replace the AC Delco one I managed to mess up... Not going to go into that...

Manifolds for Nikki carbs were specially made by Brown & Geeson who were sole importers of these carbs from Japan - hence they all had B & G cast into them.

Hmm must be a Nikki carb one then I guess! How much different are the mountings for the Nikki carb and a Weber carb? What Weber is usually modified to fit?

You would have to make an adapter plate to the manifold. Usual Weber is a 28/36 DCD I think.

No, you cant fit a weber DCD to this manifold as the Nikki was "smaller" - the two throttle bores were smaller on the Nikki and the 4 stud spacing closer together.........get yourself a proper DCD manifold !

You're right George I did have trouble with the DCOE hitting the brake servo/master cylinder. A remote servo is one way to go and one I'm keeping in the back of my mind but I don't really want to do it. I'm now beginning talks with a guy in NZ for a Blydenstein mani that switches the side of mounting for the DCOE.

Look forward to seeing that Alfa interior, that'll look nice. I would be tempted to put some Saab 9000 Aero Vader leather seats in the front, but I don't want to lose my vinyl and they weigh an absolute tonne!
