Also just found a pair of Monroe Radial matic oil shocks that are badged for a metro but it looks as though they'll fit perfectly in the rear of a Viva, might be of interest to someone, ill find out if they for but if I use the scimitar axle I guess I won't need them.

Ok, so I've gotten the 1600 X flow out and have made progress on stripping it all down, and looks like I've acquired a fast road cam. Also gotten a Magnum rear axle which I need to pick up, and a Capri gearbox so it's all looking good for Otis! Hopefully I have gotten the Magnum front grill as well, would really set it off!

So didn't realise front wheel drive applicated Kent engines with 771M castings have there side engine mounting points removed, damn! Not too much trouble though as I have arranged to swap it for an Escort 1600 so it's all good! No magnum front grill though unfortunately but I'm collecting magnum rear axle and refurbished upper radius arms on Friday. Test fitted new wheels this evening too, I think they look damn sexy;

£170 later and a Magnum rear axle with top arms and 4 brake drums are in my possession! Only question is, do all the 1256cc rear brake parts transfer to the magnum axle, as I rebuild all the with new cylinders and shoes
hehe! Just got to paint the whole lot now!

Dont think the brake parts will swap from OHV to OHC axle. Pretty sure the Magnum brakes had bigger cylinders, shoes and drums, could be wrong of course.

Crossflow swap may be put on the back burner for the time being, deadline for getting it on the road is around March 2013, it's gotta be at wheels day in Aldershot hehe!
Anyway, that means the axle will be staying in place for the time being with tidying up the car being the priority. Started brushing in some jenolite rust remover which seems to work quite well. Sourcing shock absorbers is next, will probably just go with some Viva GT or Magnum ones to deal with the inch drop when the springs get to me. I also need to replace track rod ends as their boots are shot. We've also got a crashed Honda Civic here with a real nice black leather interior which looks like it might go into the viva. The seats don't tip unfortunately as they're from a 4 door, but I don't ever really have anyone in the back so this shouldn't be much of a problem!

Crossflow swap definitely on the back burner for the time being now seeing as its proving more diffucult than I anticipated to get hold of one, but I have just bought a Mangoletsi inlet mani to fit a single side draft 40DCOE weber (Big thanks to HBPeter for posting that in the for sale section!) which should give it a bit more kick! I'm a big fan of webers but I've never used a 40DCOE and there seems to be a lot of different models within the 40DCOE family so does anyone here know if its just a case of getting hold of one and possibly getting a rebuild kit with a suitable jet for the viva? Also I'm sure Oli on the forum here with his HC had troubles with the carb hitting the servo? I guess the only thing I can do is change it to a remote servo? Or am I wrong altogether?
Welding will be commencing in that horrible lull between Xmas and new year and should have it all done by 2013! Also got a full Alfa Romeo black leather interior and have made brackets to fit driver seat for the time being, will get pics if they prove to look alright in there!

Spot on Peter, the 1256cc brake parts (8" drums) - will not fit onto Magnum's 10 " drum brakes. Dangerous to try.
