'67 Viva SR20DET Project

Postby Boydyhb » Sat Aug 04, 2012 9:59 pm

Just got my first viva, a '67 HB in need of restoration.

The chap that had it before me has fitted the Sr20det engine from a 200sx along with the back axle from a magnum.
There are discs from a chevette fitted, but I plan to upgrade the brakes and suspension along the way.

I had a couple of hours today, so I made a start on it. I found a few bits of rot so far, but nothing too major.

Wish me luck!!

You can get repair sections for the inner wing, pop up on ebay quite often.

Got a few more hours at the viva tonight, its round at my brothers house, so unfortunately I'm only getting a couple of hours here and there.

I've got the engine stripped and ready for coming out (hopefully tomorrow night if I can find someone foolish enough to lend me a hoist!)

Also got a start made on the front brakes and suspension, got everything stripped off and found the smallest set of brakes I've ever seen, the pads were smaller than a business card!

One of the shocks was also seized, so going to need new ones sooner than I had hoped, lol

That's a nice big area to work in - mine's a lot narrower so everything is a squeeze.
