On the Sl Viva theres 2 coach lines, sign writer priced it at 30+ pints of larger(£120).
Nearest on ebay were these ---Triple stripe 3mm--6mm--3mm and removing the 6mm stripe after to get the twin stripes, example below.

Hi Terry, if you want to replicate the original painted pinstripes on the SL then how about this idea?

Just started the engine rebuild after having block rebored.Put the crank in first which cutting the rear main oil seal to suit was my first pain in the neck, and after a second atempt with a new seal was happy with, then came the pistons and rods. The last time i used my"Trusty"piston ring compresser was in 1987 when i fitted a set of cord rings to a very worn astra 1300.I used it after this on an escort in 1993 and before this on my 2300 sl in 1979.
And my "Trusty"piston ring compresser, did it let me done, yes bloody big time. The piston ring tool had "belled at the bottem" and after strugling and swearing for 1 hour gave up,moral of this story if it dont go in first time buy a new compresser.Next day went to machine mart and got a new one(nice one with rachet)and they went in first time.
Below is a few piccys how its looking.

Have done a bit of work on "Barney"in the last week,as Billing is a must!
Head has been decoked and valves regrind as seats were really pitted.
My original cam was totally seized in cam housing so have replaced with a good one.
This may be a problem as can only get 14 thou cold on one exhust valve, going to run till hot and check again(not the end of the world as can get undersize/oversize tappet screw.)Have also stripped the carbs and changed needle valves, jet "o"rings, float gaskets and diaphams.
Got a guy off ebay who's a triumph specialist for carb parts----Robsport 01763 262 263
