Viva HC front panel removed

Postby iwilko » Mon Nov 26, 2012 3:26 pm

I have removed the front panel of my HC to do some work behind and to then weld In the new front panel. Before removing I bolted in a cross brace to keep everything true, but I think this has pulled by 50mm or so. I know a car of this age will be a little different from the next as standard but could some one help me and measure the distance between the front chassis rails at the point just behind the front panel.

Any help would be great.
Regards Iain

From the HC Bodywork repair manual:

Between the inner faces of the front chassis rails just near the join with the front panel: 28.40in

From centre of windscreen aperture lower edge (the middle of where the heater cover bolts on, from the bottom of the visible section, to the inner top corner of the chassis rail: 42.90in.

Obvious caveats are that the manual is sometimes wrong. I'm not near the car to measure an actual bodyshell at the moment.
