I'm quite pleased how the engine bay turned out, the original paintwork had an orange peel effect with little shine & i was trying to replicate that, it looks shinier in the pics than it does in real life

bit of fitting up done
the master cylinder is a n,o,s one but as the servo worked fine, i just cleaned it up painted it satin black, the brackets for it looked like they were originally silver under the grime & rust so i painted these silver, the engine is going to be replaced with this one
its only done 23,000 miles & looks untouched apart from a replacement water pump so that will get a new clutch & go straight in. Judging by the way it's painted, vauxhall assemled the engine & gearbox with all ancillaries attached, covered the carb & dizzy & painted the lot, you can see overspray on the inlet manifold, oil & water temperature sender & earth strap. The original engine seems to have been painted the same way, which leads me to think this

engine in & running
I should have fitted engine & box together really as it was quite a juggle to mate the two in situ, the dowell's were a tight fit & i had to draw the engine & box together the last half inch with the bellhousing bolts

hopefully it will be on the road around may/june, not sure wether to respray it myself in cellulose, or get a professional to finish it in 2 pack, i'm thinking perhaps 2 pack as it will be a more durable finish. Peter's right, paint code is 2BL but paint suppliers don't seem to recognize it, I took along one of the radiator support panels & had it matched to that

Done some work on the interior.
it appears getting good SL interior parts is nigh on impossible, so when a deluxe interior became available, it was decided on that & to base the car on a deluxe 90
