Moving onto the engine, i needed to strip it down to remove the loom and clean it up abit before loosely putting it back together.

I needed to come up with an idea of how i would fit the engine and box and indeed remove it again both now and in the future, so the plan was to lift in in place then fit the front subframe.
I bought a set of wheel dollys online and made a frame so the engine would sit happily on the dolly, id come to the box in a bit.

Onto the box, i sent all the original clutch adapter kit back as it was, as usual made by assumption in that it would'nt work on my box. so i put it together empty i will do the mod myself when the lot comes out again.
with the adapter plate on, (another less than perfect part) and box bolted to the engine i was slightly surprised to see it was well balanced so no more support needed. :D

The dolly was wheeled under the car and then lowered down to meet it, with the help of the hoist and a ratchet strap on the box it was in. :D

First job was the engine mounts which were pretty much the same as the originals onto the frame, sorry i forgot to take pics, then onto the gearbox mount which was done heavy enough to tie everything together, bolted to the chassis legs, at this stage im not sure on the rubber mounts, i may go poly or just fit a steady bar.
Gearbox mount.

Cross member mounting.

I wanted to try and put the old tunnel back in if i could, now lets see.

Mmmm i think it may turn into a jigsaw puzzle the only way i figure i can do it is to section it up,

Fresh metal added and all welded back up again, well the front part.

connected up the gear linkage to see where about it would sit, yup too far back.

Before i do anything with the gear linkage i needed to make a mounting for the rear as the BM mount is spot welded to the body, i got my engineer friend to machine up some bush mounts, only one needed here, amd fitted a landrover bush for the rear support.

Im hoping to accommodate some of the original bulkhead aswel, may aswel start with a cut in half, ill come to the bulkhead later when i get there.

time to look at the rear piece of the tunnel to include the gear lever.

I shaped a bit of steel to fit try and match the tunnel.
