Progress - yes progress. finally!

First a confession. The car has spent most of last year (Since April) looking like this:

And, now, work that took place in the house

Spot the difference:

Needless to say I am very happy - BTW I worked very very diligently to ensure that all the smoke was firmly encased in the harness. Also, I wrapped the wires in cling wrap before taping so the tape isn't actually stuck to the wires.

Last night cleaned out the interior of the car - and, in the next day or so will commence reinstalling the wiring, which represents putting the car back together again - hurray!

well friends, we are continuing to install things - which brings me to tonight's question (except for tonight's other first question in the electrical section - please look)

I have run the wire harness into the engine compartment - however, there is something else coming in - the grey wire? line? what is it?

That shouldn't matter, because wiring loom tape isn't sticky in any case. You just need a little blob of glue on one end to stop it from unwinding itself. There is supposed to be a technique to making the end stay together, but I've never managed it so I just use a little blob of superglue.

What does the end look like? In that position, could it be not actually a wire, but something like the throttle cable or choke cable, or even the speedometer cable?

It could possibly be a radio aerial cable.

Bonnet release on the left also - antenna could make sense though.

BTW just a reminder - if you are stripping a car or dismantling something, you can't take enough pictures, don't ask me how I know.
