i'm going to replace the headlining on my hc, spurred on by those of you who have made them yourselves, but did you use any special thread for stitching or is ordinary cotton ok? any help very much appreciated

Whenever I do one I use nylon thread, Im not sure cotton would be strong enough as youll be surprised the force you have to apply when fitting it.

Its straightforward enough to do, just take your time and it will go well.

When fitting get hold of as many small bulldog clips as you can and use these to get the lining stretched in position before you glue anything (contact adhesive like evostick red). Once its stretched and your happy theres no wrinkles, remove a few clips at a time, glue, the replace the clips, this will keep it tight till the glue sets.

Also, leave the clips on until its time to refit the glass, otherwise the tension in the lining will pull apart the fresh glue overnight! (found that out the hard way)

Scott.
