Restored Bedford HA

Postby amelsom » Fri Jul 03, 2015 11:29 am

Hi All,

As you may or may not know I purchased a Bedford HA Van from this forums very own Vantastic. The van was purchased as a secret gift for my boss, who started his Production Company 35 years ago with a Bedford HA as his first vehicle. The van was in very good condition when I purchased it and we only had to carry out some minor cosmetic work, the engine runs really well and only needed some emissions works to get it through the MOT.

We kept the van in secret and had various work carried out on it this included:

Full service and repairs.
Welding work round headlights, wheel arch, back door and sills.
New front and rear bumpers
New Headlights
New Indicators
Interior carpets re-layed

Here's a photo of my Boss with the Bedford he owned on the left:

Here's a photo of that very van today:

Below are a few photos before any work was carried out:

And here are a few photos of it in its final resting place in our offices reception:

Our boss was very surprised by the whole thing, we gifted it to him at our companies 35th Celebration, below is a video of the celebration and of the reveal of the van, its myself and a colleague driving it in.

Hope your enjoy all the photos.

Thanks

Fantastic, really well done. Slightly confused(its easily done), have you registered the van? Whats happened to the original van?

No haven't registered as a new van the plates are on as a more
Cosmetic then anything else, it's still registered under its original plates. The original old van in the pictures is still at the bottom of the bosses garden, it's rusted to the point of disintergration. We had original hoped to save it but when we tried to move it the body and chassis split in two. The only thing really salvageable might be the rear doors as they are off and inside the van, other than that it's impossible to get out as a tree is growing through it and it's sunk int the ground!

I would say most of the running gear is worth grabbing, engine prop gearbox etc.... glass as well, as you say if the tree is growing throughout it then maybe its past its best... LOL

Shame you can't get the original out, they would look great next to each other!

Understand now, as for the original, save as much as you can, trim.glass, running gear if its not totally had it.
