had a good look at the nearside inner wing after first removing the outer wing and its well past repairing,
there's more fiberglass & filler than metal so a nos full inner wing will be going in, moving on to the mechanical side of things, I decided to strip down the front crossmember then remove it with the engine & box, all went well with the exception of the top shock mounts which were seized in place, I managed to remove one by soaking in penetrating oil, then put a G clamp on as tight as I dare & whack with my biggest hammer
however, the other side wasn't budging even after removing the crossmember & attacking it on the floor, so it had to be cut off using a hacksaw blade & plenty of patience

Sounds a very familiar tail this John  You say you hacksawed it off - did the rest come out of the tube in the crossmember? On the HC, which I assume is similar, the long bolt tends to seize in the crossmember tube

It was a bit of a game to get at, basically the cross member was stripped down so that only the shock was left, then a hacksaw blade up the side of the shock & cut the bolt off inside the housing both sides, the remains of the bolt is still stuck in the shock but as i'm replacing both shocks I'll only need a new bolt

Luckily, the rest of the under wing area is quite good, only needing a repair to the sill where it goes under the front wing
Took the opportunity to remove the hinge pins while the wings are off as the door could do with removing to weld the wing to the a post

Inner wing fitted,
I bolted on all the outer panels first to check the alignment then put a couple of tack welds on to hold it in place then removed the outer wing & welded it on
replaced the flanges on the wings & front panel as they were well past their best & patched up some rot in the same area

Treated myself to a powerfile
Never used one of these before but read about them on retro rides about being useful for grinding out welds in tight areas, Im sure I'll find other uses for it as well
