Best way is to cut all the rot out, did all that on mine, have a look here viewtopic.php?f=23&t=22316 you may find some answers :D

Thanks Bill, useful pics there. It's hard to see which bits of metal are which section when it's all rusty so it's good to see some clean metal. Paul's mod to allow coilovers is food for thought too... :goodideasign:

Rear nearside inner arch is cleaned up and some of the welding done.


Most of the boot floor is welded now too.

And a big milestone, finally managed to the driver's door off!

The first pin puller I made couldn't cope, it was made from m10 rod. It snapped in half.



I made a second one out of m12 and it also struggled... It would just bend. I got hold of some MAPP gas though and that combined with the puller I made eventually got the first pin out! The bottom pin came about half way out, and then hammered out using a 6" nail. Door off finally!



Which meant I could get the wing off properly too:
