1977 1300 GLS - chrome wheel nuts

Hi All,

Can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier of a set of chrome wheel nuts for the rostyles on my 1977 1300 GLS?

Failing that, what is the size/thread on these nuts? I can see a few suppliers online but they seem to be focused on MGs and the like.

Thanks in advance

John

They are quite common in that they are 7/16 UNF with a 60 deg taper. They are the same as F@#d rostyle nuts. There is a supplier on eBay that sell stainless steel ones that are quite reasonably priced. however thay are not polished, just machined from raw stock hexagonal bar.

Here are his details copied from ebay :-

Yeah, might be a slightly different link but they were definitely Lotus Eclat ones and I've done over 10,000 mile with them on :?

These are more like what I bought, 7/16 with 60 degree taper. However, people are selling the exact same wheel nuts on eBay listed as both 7/16 and M12 x 1.5 for Lotus Eclat and Elise. Mine fitted and haven't fallen off yet if that is any reassurance :goodluck:

I'm not sure I'd like the sound of that. The major diameter for an M12 constant pitch bolt with 1.5mm thread pitch is, as you might expect, 12mm, whereas for 7/16 UNF it's 0.4375", which is 11.1125mm. So if it's a nut sold for an M12x1.5 thread, it's almost 1mm larger diameter than the 7/16 UNF fitting. The UNF thread is also 20TPI, which equates to around 1.27mm pitch rather than 1.5mm.

Are you sure they don't do both, and send whichever you need? Surely that has to be the case - would a 1.5mm pitch nut even screw down onto a 1.27mm bolt?

Now I've looked at it, that link seems OK as they're 7/16UNF thread. I'd be annoyed at having to use a 19mm socket instead of a proper 3/4" one, but it'd be better than nothing of course.
