sl 90 billing project

Postby bulldog » Tue Jun 05, 2007 10:54 pm

the start of the first night of the mad rush to get the hb up and running for billing!
the progress is as follows,i've drained the fuel tank of 20yr old smelly old fuel, unblocked fuel lines and stripped and cleaned the fuel pump,i've changed the fuel sender unit and we've got the car running unfortunatly the carb needs to be stripped and cleaned,i'm starting to tackle the brake issues one metal brake pipe was rotted off,i've removed 3 other pipes and hopefully they'll be made and ready to be fitted tomorrow.i've had a peek in the rear drums and it all seems ok however ive not checked the cyclinders yet but they look dry but maybe ceased.
ive started to attack the dashboard ive sprayed the dash pad black for now as it was red and wrong for the car aswell as full of cracks.
my plan for tomorrow is to refit the brake pipes if they're done and check and uncease if possable all the brake cyclinders and calipers,i shall spray the red heater vents black and hopefully refit all the dashboard i may tackle the carb if time allows but i've only got 3 hours!i'll post tomorrow.mike

wow, your doing an amazing job. Makes me feel ashamed of mine, it needs no where near that amount of work doing!! How are you going to do the bonnet hinge parts?

i will take off the bonnet and then take off the hinge to keep the shape and then i will brace it and cut out the rust and a bit more and i will weld a brace on the back of the hinge plate then i will use 1.2mm plate shape it the best i can and then drill holes for the hinge and then i will take off the brace and cross my fingers that it will fit OK and i hope the the hinge plate is OK ish and then i will drill holes to weld to the hinge plate to the inner wing [1.2mm]and then weld it all up i will take some pics
