Well, seeing it was less cold than normal, (cant say it was warm...) I pushed the car out and gave it a polish. Swapped some wheels around and set up the carbs.

I think Im going with the compomotives as I want to be a bit different. going to paint the centres silver though I think.

Scott, ive edited the above post so it shows the images, you need to use the correct link from the photo site.....

your using the wrong sorta link, here is your original link

http://s71.photobucket.com/albums/i125/opelscott22/?action=view¤t=IMG_1539.jpg

and here it is correctly

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i125/opelscott22/IMG_1539.jpg

you need to loose the garbage ?action=view¤t= out of each image...

Scott
You could upgrade to the bigger 1800/2300 front discs instead. They would fit under the other wheels.

theyre still solid though arent they? I want to go to vented discs as the car will see a track every now and then so heat is an issue... :o

Anyone know of a place that will do laser or waterjet cutting? Im trying to get my caliper brackets cut but have been quoted around £150!!!!

Hi Danny, I wouldnt recommend using the paint i did, its a 2K metallic and is a complete pain to paint with. id try to find a supplier who will do it in a basecoat, much easier to use...

If you get basecoat you will need around 3 litres as its mixed 2-1 with thinners, this will give you enough to paint the whole car, inside and out.

budget around £150-£200 for the basecoat, thinners, clearcoat and the hardner. you will need primer aswell. around another £50 for a 4ltr kit.

thats great thanks its some good information to go on. are you going to be putting a vynal roof back on?. i have one and think i will need to get a trimmer to make one up as a replacement and also tracking down front and rear screen seals. how have you managed with the seals?.

thanks
danny.

When I took my vinyl roof off, it was hiding some corrosion which could have been nasty if it was left so Im not putting one back on.
The screen seals are the original ones, Im having a few problems finding the correct insert for them though, seems you can only get the 11mm stuff now which is too wide for the seal...

Im not very happy today. :( Just about ready to start the car for the first time today and discovered a lack of oil pressure! no amount of gallery priming would persuade it to come alive. I cant get the sump off with the engine in and i cant get the engine out without taking the box out so It looks like thats my weekend gone then!!

Life really sucks sometimes!!!
