HB Screen Rubber now on the roll! New discovery or not?

Postby rostyles » Mon Mar 10, 2008 9:11 pm

I strolled into a car trim company near to me, 1/2 mile from my workshop infact, got chatting, "A long shot I know, but would you happen to have screen rubbers for HB's" Expecting the bloke to fall off his chair in fits of histerics he tapped away on the PC and said "Yeah mate, how much do you want!"

Enough to do a front screen will cost £35. I will go back in to see about the rear screen rubber mitred corners, he might be able to do these also.

You will need to cut and joint yourselves chaps.

This place has got more rubber profiles than you can poke a stick at. I have a catelogue with about 100 profiles at scale 1:1. May even match up some door rubber if we are lucky.

Strictly speaking, the profile for HC is different as it is narrower on the inside. Also strictly speaking, HB front rubbers had glued in moulded corners. It might be that the section offered is HC rubber as I suspect they reduced the thickness on the inside to help get away from the no doubt expensive glued in corners.

There have been pictures on here before where people have fitted continuous strip seals to HBs and the results certainly looked OK. I vaguely remember that a Mk1 Escort rubber fits, but check with someone who knows before trying it!

Viva HB Rubbers - ON ORDER

Postby ADRIAN » Tue Mar 11, 2008 4:35 pm

Just to let people know, a New batch of Viva HB front and Rear windscreen rubbers were ordered from Australia yesterday. Superb quality and a perfect fit, in fact better than the originals. But they are expensive and this is unavoidable .

Hope to have in stock from May 10th onwards, and available to club members only.
