MY SNOOT RESTO. DTV TWIN CAM REPLICA. OFF ROAD SINCE 1991!!

Postby viva2300 » Thu Mar 20, 2008 1:25 am

Hi all
FINALLY after 2 years of waiting i have got my Droopsnoot Firenza down in Sussex with me. Now work can start again on getting her finished & see my vision completed.
Plan is for a representation of the DTV Firenza Twin Cam. with the Jensen healey Twin Cam Head grafted on to the 2300 single cam block.
As you can see in the pictures i have had a respray done in VW Corrado Black Magic Metallic.
She needs a new interior, which will be trimmed in the red Tartan (as per Sportshatch/HS Chevette) that the Twin Cam was fitted with.
Not sure about wheels yet, although quite like what is on at the moment.

I like what's on there at the mo too, but what about a black set of Omega wheels, like the ones on the estate?

I dont really want to change the stud spacing, so it'll be either the alley cats or the 8 spokes.
I'll get the Alley cats restored & put a tyre on one of them, then i'll hold it against the wheel & take a piccy, then take one of the 8 spokes & post it for an opinion from everyone. Takes the decision making away from me as i'm hopeless at it!

She looks remarkably good for having spent 2 years unde a cover mate. When The Beast is done, we shall have to take both to a track and have a shoot out me thinks.
Sometimes, I wonder why I bother, and then for one fleeting moment things will go right for a change.

Have collected a complete Lotus 907 engine out of a 1978 Lotus Elite with everything on it except carburettors for an unbelievable £36!! Apparently it was only removed to change the clutch & was never refitted. I am going to strip the heads off & check out the state of the innards. If good i'll put the whole unit into the Snoot as it is. Will make a great weight saving over that big lump of pig iron that normally resides there!
Ebay is a wonderful place :D

Hi
thanks for the comments.
Had the wheels for ages. they are Weller 8 spokes. I've got some Alleycat alloys that will go on later.
