Mazzo that looks amazing!
Three cars, two fire engines, one steam roller, a wheelchair, and various sized hammers.... what could go wrong?!

Thanks Clara - your Chevette looks nice too!

Bit of a frustrating day today.

Brakes are all sorted and some of the other bits and pieces, but alas, I cannot free the clutch!

I've had it up to 80 in 4th on the speedo with the wheels on axle stands, but it doesn't free. Not sure I have much choice now other than taking the gearbox out. I need to get this done by tomorrow - but I might be pushed.

Any other suggestions etc are very welcome. :D

Mazz mate... try running the engine till its warm, at least half an hour so the warmth gets right through to the flywheel. Then wedge the clutch pedal down and leave it overnight.
Bet you a bacon sandwich at billing that the clutch is free in the morning.

Hmmm. OK Matt, you're on!

If it works I'll be more than happy to buy you a bacon buttie.

Just off to warm the car up!

Look's like you owe me a buttie!

No, it's still stuck on so it's gearbox out day today.

I kind of expected it so I did factor in the time, it just would have been nice not to have to.

Now where did I put the new clutch plate??

Bloody hell, never had that one fail, even on stuff thats sat round for years and years! Oh well, like you say box out. Must be some serious rust on that clutch plate! Do you want tomato sauce?

Yes please. Still can't find the clutch plate I bought!

Once clutch and exhaust are done, I am finished. Seems like a lot of work to get done though. Just having a coffee break :)

Ooops, I forgot to mention.

A guy came round here yesterday who works in an exhaust centre. When I showed him the new front pipe, I said that I needed some of those rings that go round the two pipes, fitting into the concave lips on the end of the pipe - before mating up to the manifold (it's the early twin down pipe type)

He said that you don't need them, just use some jointing paste. I'm not sure, what does anyone else think about that?

And just to really complicate matters. I've got the wrong middle box!

Can't put the thing together. The middle box looks right, but the long pipe out of it is too long and has a bend at the end.

Damn..... where the heck do I get one of them in a really short time frame?

Maz, I have the exhaust system that came off of my Firenza in the garage. It is a 1256 one but you may be able to do something with it.
Give me a ring if you want to come over and have a look. Brian (Aldershot)
