Some recent work

Postby mazzo » Sat Nov 22, 2008 6:25 pm

Been trying to sort out some of the probs with the car and as I did, I ripped the roof lining  Now, it's rare that my wife will consider doing anything for the cars, but she made me a new lining!

In starting to fit it, I found quite a few holes in the window frames - front and rear. Also the dodgy bits at the bottom corners of the front windscreen.

Welded a plate in (and blobed other holes)

It wasn't fun doing that in the rain under a tarp.

Finally with galvanising spray - I intend to prime and paint next weekend if I can.

Did some at the top and on the other side. They all need a quick skim with filler to smooth out, but they are solid and there's no holes anymore.

Finally - I sorted out the boot lip. Most of it was missing, so I made new ones and welded them in. Need priming, but have got seam sealant on them. Will put some pics up shortly.

It's getting colder, but I'm keeping on going. Oh well, next weekend will be around soon enough - just wish we hadn't a family do tomorrow :?

Headling in place.

It didn't help when it poured down, but I have managed to do it and get the windows back in without too much mucking about. Just got the odd bit of muck on the lining, but it fits - isn't too bad and once I've steamed it, it should be nice an tight.

All pegged up and stuck down.

The back - a few wrinkles I hope I can steam out.

At last I can drive it again

Actually, it was reading about yours that inspired me!

Mind you, I couldn't have made it so if it hadn't have been for my wife, I'd still have a cacky ripped one.

well done mazzo - looks the dogs b-, can i ask, were the headlining retaining rods colour coded . Ive just done some similar repairs around the rear side windows on my Viva E and decided to remove the headlining and spray it black . I did write down the correct sequence for the rods but (like most hings) cant seem to find it!!
Cheers - Jon
