A wee resto

Thought i would post a few pics of my HC. been at it a while now, started with little mechincal knowledge, this is mt first resto, it started on eBay when I spotted the car

Got it home a found a few bits missing - exhaust, prop, engine stripped, most of it in the boot, ignition in bits, carpet had fungus

Next a found a bits to start the resto and found one of the previous owners had been a club member, got in touch and he sent me a few pics of the engine work he did some time back

He never got time to finish the job and had to pass it on and that's when it landed on flea bay

Next up I got the exhaust, prop, new indicator boxes (old ones rotted), put the engine back together, refurbed the carb, new fuel pump and it kicked into life. Headlights back in and painted up the front valance

Then I took the back seats out to paint the floor and went for a poke about with the screw driver!

So thats holes in the rear seat belt mounts, both sides of the boot floor, rear valance and the rear arches (both sides)

While i was there I stripped out the back axle, suspension and brakes

new cylinders, shoes, springs on the rear and refurbed the front brakes as well

So still a bit to do but as far as I can tell the cars been off the road since 1998 so hopefully 2009 will see it MOT'd and driving again.

will update as it progresses it next couple of months.

Nice comprehensive rebuild Steff. You seem to be well on the way to MOT.

Been a while but got the insurance orgainsed last night and booked the MOT for this Saturday morning. Fingers crossed!

Take it I am OK to drive without tax as long as its on the way to a booked in MOT?

you are correct a vehicle can be driven too and from an mot station for a pre booked mot without tax .but to cover yourself make sure the station has made a record of your registration number .good luck with the mot
