A HAPPY TIME

I have done something stupid and bought another Griffon. This time a red 1800. I was gobsmacked when I got it home and found that the demonstrator road test in my old Kit Car magazine was indeed the car I've just bought! This was the first one built so I think I now have the unique distinction of having owned both the first and the last Griffons ever built. It's cleaning up real good but needs a lot of engine work which I am slowly getting on with. Can't make up my mind whether to fit twin strombergs or leave it standard with a single unit. Regards, Mark

Think I would leave well alone. First and last, well done.

Oh no! I've gone and found one inbetween. Engine ripped out, Rover V8 sat waiting to go in, but at least the back axle is Vauxhall, or is it? Apparently its a LSD out of a racing Magnum. Could be months before this one gets going but it will be worth it! Pick it up Friday.

Worth getting for the LSD, if its a correct one for a Magnum axle!

Finally got a suitable SD1 engine & 5 speed box for the intermediate Griifon. Probably not much interest to you Viva chaps as only the suspension, wiring loom and rear axle relate to a Vauxhall. Wish I knew what the back axle is though. It is LSD and the previous owner is adamant that it is a Vauxhall unit that he raced in a magnum rally car. The original Griffon is now nearing completion and I have all the bits necessary to rebuild it. Hope to get it on the road within the next 2 weeks. This one is a proper vauxhall with Magnum front & rear supsension, rear axle, gearbox and 1800 OHC engine. It doesn't have a roof but at least it's not purple....
