New Zealand December 2009
A rare sight. This HB Viva was spotted on the road in Papanui, Christchurch. We gave chase and had a chat with the owner. He said he got it from a banger racers who were prepping it for racing ‘and got carried away with it’ and decided to restore it. It must have been in great condition to start with. As you see it’s a 1968 Deluxe with GT bonnet and grill.
It has a meaty engine from a later Magnum if I remember rightly. It has Victor discs and Cortina drums on the rear.
It was a bit of fate that we actually saw it as we’d just finished having lunch at a bar and could easily have missed it had we left even 30 seconds later!

Looks like a supercharged V8 to me, not a Magnum engine. Well spotted.

NZ HB's continued
Near my mates house in Christchurch is this HB Estate parked at the petrol station. It’s a left hand drive and was imported from Belgium so the owner said.
There’s a few old classics lounging around in various scrap yards in the south island I did see a non runner HB estate on private property which appeared to be in fairly good condition.
There was a sky blue HB for sale at a garage in 2007 of which I have pics which I will post later.

HI
Yep it's not a Magnum. I guess it was in a Magnum prior to the Viva.
