My neighbours old Viva

Postby mrbedhead » Fri Sep 20, 2013 5:42 pm

Hello all, I'm posting on behalf of my neighbour that doesn't have an internet connection. What he does have however is an L reg (1973) 2 door Viva saloon that has been sitting in his garage for the past 20 years. We were wondering what kind of value it might be to someone that would like a little project. I have some images that I'll get uploaded later on.

Many thanks,

Mike

Hi guys, sorry for not getting back sooner, I'm not sure about whether or not it's an auto or manual, but I'd imagine manual. It's a 1256 I believe. Here are some images:

As for running, I don't think it's been turned over in a very, very long time so I'd doubt it, but you never know. It's full of rubbish at the moment so that will need clearing out before any kind of testing could be done.

Thanks!

Not in our register,1256,2dr,Deluxe. Dosent look too bad, any chance of getting it out the garage to see its condition better. Whats the interior like?

What superb garage find! A few months ago I completed restoration on a L reg Viva Estate that had been garaged for 23 years and was therefore in very similar condition to this example.

I would advise against trying to start the engine as judging from my own experience it is likely that the fuel tank will be suffering from internal corrosion and the remaining fuel will be like soup! I can almost guarantee that a replacement tank will be needed. Everything really needs to be dismantled, cleaned and examined.

If I had the space I would love this as a project, but I have three vehicles already. Let's hope that a VVOC member snaps this up. Why not list it on the Vivas For Sale section of this Forum?

It's been fitted with an OHC lower front panel bulge.
