Viva Chatters room?

Postby Steve » Thu Feb 16, 2006 9:12 pm

Hi
The forum has been very helpful certainly for me it has helped me source a car and hard to get parts.
I wondered how viable it would be to have a chat program on the site? sometimes i log on and see another member is logged but it takes so long to communicate

I certainly think it would be great it would also encourage people to get together and communicate alot more.
I read that that the most users logged were 17 at one time,, i think this could be much improved.
Maybe this topichas been raised before?

Viva Chatters room?

Postby pbottomley » Thu Feb 16, 2006 9:18 pm

On the cards chap.............. Yes it's a common item to talk about, the
problem right now is so many people use MSN, AIM, YAHOO, IRC etc etc etc,
its very very hard to get something on the site that is compatible with all
of those and isn't a open door for spammers to piggy back my server and use
it for NON viva stuff, BUT I am looking at it.

First I have Content management software to install and transform the hard
coded web pages to active pages, I also have a gallery module to finish and
a new front end to the site. Once those are done I will be spending some
time looking at chat software and packages.

PS Steve who are you ? If this site has enabled you to get a viva and some
parts great, ever thought of actually joining the club?

Paul

Chat Room

well tests have taken place on what I thought was the top two chat programes for this forum, and they are both riddled with holes, and to be honest not up to scratch for my liking.

So now looking for other apps to do the job. Until i have fully tested them chat is limited to MSN and or Yahoo or what everyu else you use as individuals. I will have it sorted soon.

It all sounds quite complex, but nice to see you updated the thread with the result Paul.

Its obviously a popular talking point judging by the amount of people who have viewed this post.

I'm still waiting for the application stuff,,guess it will come when the head of the club returns.

Keep up the good work. The site is constantly being improved.

Well looks like i have really suggested afew ideas which really appeal to members of the forum (and non members?) this topic is still the highest viewed as is the "midlands members" post !!

I feel the need to brag,,ps how the hell does the "quote " tool work..is it a tool? do i need to be a member? each time i press it then post it says "Quote" im guessing this is a thick question but im clearly not the only one that has got it wrong !!##
