Wanted Webmaster

Wanted Webmaster:

Well folks it time for me to hang up my webmaster handle for the Viva
owners Club, I have been doing this website for nearly 3 years and I think
that’s long enough for me to of exhausted myself of the desire to code
webpage’s for the Vauxhall Viva owners club. So I am looking for a
replacement.

What does that person needs: Well in a short answer desire and the ability
to at least understand HTML.

In a longer description:

Ideally understands and experience in:

a) PHPBB (our forum software at present)
b) Can code HTML, and CSS (all the pages are hand coded static HTML to
keep it simple)
c) Can use an FTP client
d) Ideally has used cpanel before (not essential as I can walk you through
that)
e) can set up and manage POP3 email accounts

That’s about it, sounds simple and it is, normal website changes revolve
around new links to the site, moderation of the forum, updating galleries
and adding more detail and making sure everything is ship shape. Plus the
changes as directed by the committee.

At present the site is hosted with a reliable company I personally have
been using for 7 years, If you the new webmaster wish to do thing your way
then that’s your call as a webmaster.

If you are interested in the position, then please contact me directly
webmaster@vauxhallviva.com.

My intention is to step down fully in early September from the club as a
committee member and relax / just be a member. If no one comes forward
then I will not change my plans, the club will be without any one to run
the website and or forum moderation. I cannot extent the webmaster role
any longer than I already have, but I will find some time here and there
to assist as needed during the hand over, but as soon as physically
possible I will retire from involvement in the running of the Vauxhall
Viva Owner Club website fully.

Contrary to the rumour and accusations I will not be leaving the club
membership, nor will I be joining the committee of another Viva club, nor
run their websites. I stand by my results as a testament to my belief in
what this club should of been.

A public thank you to you Paul for all that you have done regarding the websit, forum and Membership Secretary role. Your efforts have been great and you leave your posts safe in the knowledge that anyone who has used your services over the past 3 years does appreciate what you have done for the club to this point.

Whatever you decide to invest your time in, I wish you well on behalf of the club.

Paul,
I only hope that we get a replacement with at least some of you capabilities to carry on the excellent work you have put in. I am sure all will agree that your efforts have brought the Club alive and put many people in touch both nationally and internationally.
I hope you will continue with your post as membership secretary and continue to influence the future of the club.

Thank you for all your support, I have a few things I still needs to sort
out, that will take some time and thought, before I can hand it all over.
But I do need to get a life of my own at some point, LOL.

Having got Marvin last November and so far in all that time driven him 3
miles does sort of say how little time I have had to work on my cars, and
even then all the work was done at a garage at cost to me. Weather and
time have become my enemy. Standing down form mt committee roles willgive
me back soem time and hopefully allow me to go see my friends in my
loverly cars for once.

Tony, Peter and Jonathon, thanks for your efforts in providing me history
for the club, I will return your items (if you have prodived them) and
pass onto whoever takes over the details of where and how to get this
history, so if they decide to continue the reconstruction of our history
they know who to talk to.

I had a list of plans for the website as long as my arm, alas not a lot
has happened in the last 6 months due to other committee commitments.

Dont worry however I shall still be here as a memebr to ask stupid
questions and give back even sillier answers.
