You've got a friend here Colin....

I'm coming around to the belief that we need to wake up to the fact that there are going to be fewer and fewer original cars left. We need to stop modifying good cars just because we can do it cheaper when we find a good donor. If we don't then there will be none left.

My own car is a much modified Firenza Sport SL, but I did the modifications when the car was 6-7 years old and I bought it from a scrap yard. If I bought the same donor car now I would not even consider modifying it in the way I did back then.

I think reversible modifications are the way forward. Best of both worlds, keeps the driver more comfortable and perhaps safe but can be removed easily should the occasion arise.

Well the original engine runs. So head of and check it over skim and harden valves for unleaded. So the Lotus 907 is for sale

Thanks for the support, David.

HC Fairley, I think you're exactly right. There's absolutely nothing wrong with reversible mods.

Carl, I'm glad you've decided to keep the original engine. Perhaps the sale of the Lotus engine might help pay for the Vauxhall engine work? Keep us posted with pictures and progress. :D
