Ultra rare Firenza 2000 SL still with its 1975cc engine. Originally Aqua Starmist.

This rare car is currently still mechanically in its original factory spec. I would love to take it on and restore it to original spec - but I have too many other cars in progress and no space.

It would be great if someone else could do it, but sadly I imagine it will end up being 'red topped' or otherwise further customised - like most surviving early Firenzas.

I thought about it Carl, but I won't bid against you.

I will have to sell a Viva GT or two before I buy myself a Firenza.

I tried buying this Firenza several months before my currnet one, it was up for 4k at the time but someone else beat me to it. I think it looks great as it is!

Do any un-modified Firenza 2000 SLs actually now survive?

The car pictured below came to light last year. I tried to buy it, but the owner had apparently already promised it to a friend - who immediately lowered it and fitted big blingy wheels, although he assures me his modifications are reversible and that the bodywork hasn't been cut.

So here's a challenge. Does anyone know of a surviving, unmodified, factory spec 1971-72 Firenza 2000SL or 1600SL now residing here in the UK?

Chris Yearby has an immaculate and lovely FIrenza 1256 SL and David Maxwell has records of a handful of UK registered 2300 Sport SLs. And of course there are a few modified cars.

But can anyone post up a pic of an original spec, unmodified 1971-72 Firenza 2000 SL or 1600 SL still in its original colour and now living in the UK?

There's Steve Bourne's Tasmin orange with vinyl roof 2000 SL but it has later door cards, period Minlight replicas and a 7 dial dash so strictly not factory spec. Barny Brooks in Anglesey has a Garnet Starmist one awaiting or part way through a resto. Pics to follow if I can find them.

EDIT - Here's Steve's car. I saw it at the weekend.

Well bought, Carl.

As you know it's super rare. I'm glad you got it at a good price. It looks a bit of a bargain actually! :D
