New Screen Rubbers for HC cars.

Postby viva2300 » Tue Mar 15, 2011 1:53 am

Thought i'd post this here too as well as the club magazine, as all you folks with HC based cars will no doubt be interested in this.
As you know (or not!) i am spares coordinator for the Viva Owners Club...As part of a new venture for the club, i am very close to having new screen rubbers available for the cars...these are moulded in silicone rubber...very resistant to UV and weathering (up to 3 times more than standard screen rubber) and to the original rubber profile, not the current thin rubber versions that are on eBay at the moment. They will be able to accept the chrome infill strip, or the black rubber infill too.
I should be receiving the first sample rubber length this week, and will be fitting to a car to test quality very soon.
Prices are going to be around the £50-£60 mark per screen.
Obviously, Viva Owners Club members will be receiving a great exclusive deal on these rubbers.
The first to appear will be front screen rubbers for all HC cars....these are to fit toughened screens as i believe laminated screens are thinner, so cannot say 100% whether they will fit them too. Also rear screen for HC saloon cars, as these have been non-existant for a long time.

In the near future, production will hopefully (depending on how sucessful the first runs are) expand to cover rear screen rubbers for Coupes & Estates.
I am also waiting to hear from the same people about possible door weatherstrips (the bit that goes right round the inner edge of the door) for HC's This may be a while yet as they are 2 different profiles, and added to the fact that they are clipped in. This clip in idea may not be possible with the new strips, but i cant see why we couldnt bond or stick them in place....whatever way i decide to do this i'm sure a nice new rubber will be preferable to a knackered, split one that leaks! And these too have been obsolete for a number of years.
Also further down the line i want to explore HB & HA screen rubbers...also door weatherstrips for these cars and rear quarter glass for coupe cars and 2 door HC/HB & HA models

Initial pre orders have been high from the Viva Club, so i am wondering if any people on the forum would like them. If so register interest here first.

Thanks
Paul

I would be intrested in front and rear for my brothers HC. Are they just the exact shape then and not on a roll?

Dont suppose you know anyone who do the weather strip (the part that goes on the door between the door and glass) for a HB at all as i desperatly need some for mine?
