1972 Firenza 2000 SL ( Canadian Market only ) Updated

Postby conor218 » Sun Jul 24, 2011 2:48 am

Hi
New Update
Had to let my Orange two door HC sedan go, shipping It across Canada was going to cost over twice what the car cost, put an add out on a local web site and found 3 HC's within 200Km of our house In Calgary.
One of them Is the Ultra rare over here 2 Door coupe VIN 93337-------- and a lovely 2door Hatch VIN 93315-------- and a 100% complete 2 door sedan VIN 93311-------- all 1972 SL's with 2.0 OHC one Auto and two manuals

Im going to need a bigger garage soon....

Car Pics are where I found them, over the next weeks or so I will be renting a trailer to pick them up..

Very Rusty Floors and a Lot of Filler Hiding Some More Dents and Rust, But Worth Saving, Wasp's Nest In Back Window..

Image

Very Solid Car, Just Interior Rotted Away.

Image

Was hard to get a good look at this one, Greenhouse Inside You Will Notice, But Just some Light Rust On Sills and Arches But 100% complete.

Image

Just goes to show, I looked all over Canada for a Viva ( Firenza ) and put a Local Advert Out and Found Three Beauties..
Enjoy the Pics
I will Start a post on the Restoration Page when I get them home.

Thanks for the Interest, I will be posting a big question soon about what can you do to the 2.0 to Increase power ???
But for know I have Been Busy on e-bay trying to hunt down info on these Canadian Firenza's, got this old sales brochure in the post today and thought I would post the pics of It to anyone Interested. I grew up thinking the only Firenza was a 2 door coupe, still cant get use to seeing Firenza on all the range, If the pics are clear enough you will see the logo behind the front wheel.

Mark, hi, I'm just in ahead of you in terms of buying a Vauxhall in Canada. I just bought a '69 Viva GT. Congrats! I do have a fried who has two low mileage Firenza's, not sure if he is willing to sell but, they have been sitting for some time under cover and one seems to be particularly nice - of course in southern ontario not out west.

cheers!

Cor blimey...wish we could find lot of them here lying around!!
There probably are quite a few lying around undiscovered.
Increasing power on the 2 litre....you have a low compression (7.3:1) engine...basically the same as was fitted to our Bedford CF Vans here. Fitting high compression (8.5:1) pistons and twin Stromberg CD175's will raise power to around 102 bhp. Will improve torque to around 120 lb/ft.

Hello and welcome... Looks like you have your work cut out... You gonna do them all, or pick your battles?

Just a quick update, I got the Silver/Green coupe home and am In the process of stripping it for spare's the body Is just to far gone... Found a Blue coupe 5 mins from my door and brought It home, I am in the process of stripping ready for acid dipping or soft bead blasting, Its 97% solid with just a little rust on the bottom of the rear arches and sills. See Pics.

I will take a bit more recent pics, but the garage is a right mess with both cars in a state of dis-assembley.
Thanks
