Hello from Wirral

Hello
Anyone on the wirral. Just brought a white 1978 4 door magnum which needs work.
Cleaned plugs, fitted new points then fed fuel into fuel pump only to find fuel pooring out of the carb turned out to be a sticky stop valve. Got it started but the water pump knacked. Disconnected the fan belt and the engine sounds great.
Now onto the body work.
Stripped the interior and removed carpet.
Needs 1xns wing, both cills, poss some floor panels. Wheres the best place to source them?

Welcome to the VVOC forum

You will have to make the best of your welding skills on the car, no repo panel exist and most of the old stock is now gone rusted or been welded onto existing cars. No new panel's will be produced due to lack of cars that survive and the tens of thousands required just to press one wing.

However Wings do pop up on ebay every-now and again (normally in the £150 plus mark) Sills are available on internet just do a search on viva HC sills. Floor items will have to mend and make do, no one has any floor panels left, in fact I have never seen a NOS floor section ever.

Some items might be available from club spares, but this is a members club and the normal course of action is to offer said parts to paid up members on a priority basis.

Hello and welcome. Is this the white Magnum that was on ebay, single carb engine? As Paul says only sills available still, although fibreglass wings can be bought but the quality varies a lot. Join the club and most mechanical parts can be sourced, and keep your eye on ebay. Would like to see more photos of the car, we like photos on here. Well done on rescuing what is becoming a rare car.

Hi
Yes white magnum on ebay. Had fun and games on the day of collection. Hired a trailer from chester them drove to home to sainsburys for fuel. Now the fun begins filled the car with unleaded instead of diesel DOH!.
Did the walk of shame to cashier and paid for unleaded that i didn't want!!
Wot next drive home and drain the tank! Well 3 hours later car now working and driving to hasting from the wirral. Got home at 2am in the morning.

About the car
Engine runs great apart from water pump.
Interior all their but seats ripped and dash fader brownish (how to get this back to blue)
Body work
Stripped the interior removed carpets and found holes. Small repairs required on floors but the rear arches on both sides require 6inch repairs. What bothers me is the ns wing and rear arches.
Could do with some opinions on whether to continue or sorry to say scrap it for spares.
Pics to follow.

Doesnt look to bad, belive me, people have rescued a lot worse. It will take time, but dont scrap it!! The dash, and interior. yes you guessed it, parts are very hard to come by. Used to be able to get a 'paint' called Vyinalcote for interiors, not sure if you can still get it. Or, go 70's and cover it in fur!

Yes its not that bad with regard to rust. But rebuilding the wing with the ribs in it is not easy. What have other people done. Have they welded a flat sheet in and then filled with filler to produce the ribs?

Welcome Rob,
Dont scrap it i've seen worse than yours.
Is it a L/H/S flat top wing that you're after?. My Friend had bought a NOS lot of wings. He is asking 150 instead of 180quid due its the last Viva wing 'he's got left. the only problem issue is postage cause he had never sent items abroad. Maybe anyone could do by his own courrier, as he is willing to take it personally to the collecting pound/yard.
Thanks
Chris
