Interesting. I know what you mean about people who put the cars down have never owned or driven one. I used to run rear engined Skoda Estelle/Rapid. Had the same problem, plenty people slagging the cars off, never having driven one.

A short wheelbase car will tend to be a bouncy and nervous unless well tied down, and then you lose any ride quality it had. 18-24mpg not bad for a big 6 and only 3-speeds.

Hmmm, not looking good for our hero....

Finally got in touch with the owner of the property. The car is technically not his, was parked on the property by a friend of his a 15+ years ago and the guy never came back for it. No Keys, No papers. Not legally his.

I don't think I want to get into a mess like that. I guess the search continues.

My little mountain town is slowly getting worse. There used to be a time when we didn't need to lock our doors. We had a solid 40 years of tranquility where I live. Last winter, somebody rummaged through my Tiburon and my mother's Chrysler in the middle of the night. They made off with about .84 cents worth of change from my centre console. Luckily, they didn't check my ashtray for the $20+ dollars. They didn't take anything from mums car. And just a few weeks ago, some young'ns tried to take my Yellow Hornet for a Joyride. Good thing they didn't know jack about how to hotwire a car.

I live in a neat little area that's sort of cut-off from the rest of the world. It's a solid 3-hour drive to the closest metropolitan area. When I was a tyke in the 80's, it was very much like growing up in the 60's. We had a single AM radio station, two TV stations and if I recall, the entire city only had four traffic lights.

If you have your heart set on it just get him to write a bill of sale for it. Register under your own name and it is now yours unless anyone contests it (very doubtful). The Canadian registration system is very forgiving. I bought a car once that had a bill of sale written on the back of a bit of cereal box cardboard from the daughter of the guy who actually owned the car. No problems!

You can look up the British Saloon Club of Canada too - these Firenza are a bit rare - they had a habit of stalling in wet weather in Canada.
