Hello from Paul

Postby Paul-61 » Sun Feb 17, 2013 4:43 pm

Hello folks, just a quick post to let you know a bit about me:
Just bought a Griffon kit car, it's based on a 1977 Magnum 1800 Auto and is part way between a restoration and a rebuild. It's not quite a 'Barn Find' as the guy who stored it there knew exactly where it was, it hasn't run for 11 years and it seems time to give it some TLC.
The automatic gearbox though has got to go!

Hi there welcome to the Forum - when you say the auto has to go you may find that the bearing in the end of the 1800 crank is different for a manual box

Fred
I see what you mean - the crank shaft end isn't machined as deep where the converter plate attaches.
Thanks, I will have to rethink.

I have used cranks around if you need one, would probably need a grind as have some surface rust on journals.
