Hello from Spain

Postby Gabriel » Thu Jun 20, 2013 6:53 pm

Hi to all,

I am writing from Spain to present a "strange" replica I came across in a workshop here. I don't own the car, but I am trying to help a friend mechanic to fix the engine, which turned out to be a 1800 Magnum engine.
I post below a few pics, did anyone see such a car before ? We got a few parts from e--y from UK, and had the oil pump refurbished, and are now looking for the oil sump missing...

Cheers,

Gabriel

Should not be problem finding a sump - common to all slant 4 engines fitted to Viva and Victors - Problem is more shipping cost to Spain - does anyone come over to UK who could pick up ? We have a Vauxhall Rally at Billings Aqua drome 13th 14th July where someone visiting could pick one up!

It's strange to see an 1800 fitted with twin Strombergs. Are you sure it is'nt a 2000 or 2300? The capacity is cast on the side of the block below the carbs.

They did not do an 1800 with twin stromies but get a pair from a 2000 engine and they will tune in and it makes it go a lot better :P I have put them on my 1800 Viva estate - Peggy to those who know her!

Thanks for the replies.
Engine size confirmed, it says 1.8 l. The sump was steel apparently, with 2 levels, not the alloy type.
Anyone with a spare to sell and ship to Spain, please send me a PM.

I will post also in Wanted Parts.

Thanks !

Gabriel.
