Hello my name is Gavin from Dovercourt Essex.

I am new to the owners club but not to Vivas.
50 years ago my parents bought a new HA Deluxe, from a dealership in North Walsham Norfolk, where we lived back then.
That beige saloon was very reliable over 3 years, taking us on a Scottish holiday, four up fully loaded,as well as a couple of Cornish ones.
In 1967 it was part exchanged for a lovely Pinewood Green HB Deluxe 90. There was some question of getting the lighter green colour.
At 96 my old Mum remembers the dark green Viva as her favourite car. :dito:

I actually bought a Pampas Green Deluxe last year. People often ask if I have owned it from new, and the other frequent comments are that they or family owned one or that they passed their tests in a similar one. That illicit same reply yes so did I!

So it has been a bit like going back in time with the Viva. :goodideasign:

people keep saying the ol gals in fantastic condition, which it is for the year etc, but it is not perfect body wise. Then again it doesnt get tucked away in a warm dry garage (albeit my name is on the council list)
Others have said it is just as it should be.

Having replaced the brake master cylinder and lines, new gaiters for the MOT, and an exchange rad, plus hoses and thermostat,it should be mechanically fine-,touch wood. Oh yes plus a new Battery as it struggled to start quickly if left too long last winter, and I thought I could use the old one on my little sailing cruiser, only that sank, so maybe I'm better off on dry land.

I did quite a few shows, this year and as I had no reply after sending the membership application off, joined the Drivers Club, so some of the photos are with their members cars.
The cheque etc that got lost in the wash, did eventually come to light and I got a hearty apology, hence the tardiness in joining.
I am also in the Clacton Classic car club so there is plenty of choice, show wise.

Incidentally I am trying to find out about The Irish Tour and see in the Newsletter that The big show is there in May, so would like to try and aim to get over there for the Northwest 200 bike racing (sponsored by Vauxhall)and maybe stay over and combine the two :imsmiling:

Hello and welcome. Do you have any photos of your/family Vivas, along with reg numbers?

Very nice HB you have. Any chance I could nick some of those Flickr photos for the club register?

Sorry Peter no photos of family Vivas, and the HB 90 was MNG ???E, sorry I only recall the MNG part because an Aunt christened it Mingee.
The powers that be went and changed the reg postfix in August that year(it had run from January/January) so E became F ,our June 67 car was last years model despite only being a couple of months old.
By all means use the photos , be my guest.
