Hello from Perh, Western Australia

Postby perthwaha » Mon Aug 03, 2015 10:00 am

I drove a 1972 Bedford HA van in the UK from 1979 to about 1983 (when rust got the better of it). Reg: UNM 260K, originally a Gas Board van. i now live in Oz and my neighbour only offers me his old HA that be put up on axle stands some 20 years ago in the shed, due to an electrical fault and fuel getting into the oil. The engine was dismantled and sits in pieces on in workbench and shelving, but the car is complete, even with few spares - like bonnet and boot, glass and lights (from a red deluxe).
The next stage is to extricate her from the shed and explore the condition/check for rust. I see she she is grey with a red interior.
I'd better hurry up and finish off the TVR 390SE project and get started on her.

hi Peter
The system in Australia is different to UK, the registration number doesnt stay with the car for its lifetime. I don't know of the original number plate, but maybe if I can find some paperwork in the glove box/parcel shelf area or elsewhere it might tell me. She hasnt been registered for 20+ years. As you can see from the first photo I haven't even be able to see her properly as so much junk has been stored on top, in front and around her. That's this weeks job, to get access and layout all parts together in one place.
cheers
Nick

Hello, first time on here for a few months.

I'm a fellow Aussie from Adelaide. Currently I live in Stockholm 10,000 miles from my Viva's hence why I turn up on here every few months I find it difficult seeing these lucky buggers playing with there Viva's in their shed:)

I have owned over 20 HA's and have three left. A Brabham GT, Adelaide assembled deluxe and standard.
Grey is very rare in fact I have never seen one in real life. I assume the interior is red? Mechanical spares are pretty easy to come by in Australia its trim and body parts that are difficult but the trim is from the EH Holden special and is quite hard wearing.
There are quite a few HA owners in Perth. PM me if you want their contacts. I have more spares than I will ever need and come home for three months a year around February. Sing out if you need anything :welcome:

Hi just re read your thread. What a cracking colour combo. Storm grey with red interior. My first car a FB Victor had that combo. Much more impressive on an HA. :D
