Hi

Thankyou for accepting my membership into this forum,I'm looking forward to speaking and learning from the members on here helping me to keep my viva in good order.

I have a 1977 viva hc 1300 in white,58,000 miles ,it's been in storage for about 5 years after failing it's mot on a few things ,at this time it was within my sister's ownership but from the day she got her first viva hc(my grandad passed it onto her when he passed away) sadly the car after a few years was in to much of disrepair for them to keep it on the road ,however a gentleman chased them down whilist they drove the old blue hc to see if they where intrested in purchasing his vehicle (the one I now own),I pestered them for quite some years to pass it onto me and finally they crumbled and I began the work to get her back on the road.

Whilist in storage my father and a few friends who helped, worked through the issues of the fail sheet , some of the work was:new brake lines, brakes, new sill's,suspension, removal of rust, new tyres, respray amongst other things, the car is a completely standard example.

I recently acquired the car and pulled it from storage ,the car sadly would not run without choke ,so we rebuilt the carb finding that the needle locating screw was missing! Which had caused damage to the jet and also the fuel bowl had worn and was leaking ,after lots of back and forth we got her running and she went into MOT today and went straight through bar needing a set of wiper blades! (This truly shocked me).

So she is now taxed and mot'd ,however I do have a question for the final piece to get her back on the road ,I was wondering which insurance companies the members on here recommend to use?(I'm 35 with full no claims bonus).

Wow I've waffled on ,sorry!

Any help would be much appreciated, I look forward to finally getting her on the road!and maybe one day meeting some of you.

Thanks again Chris.

Sounds like you have been a busy boy! Well done for getting it back on the road.
First thing you need to become a full member as they ask for membership no.
I use RH Insurance specialists https://www.rhspecialistinsurance.co.uk/ - they have the advantage of not making an administration charge and it does not seem to be hidden in their quote if compared with say Adrian Flux who charge £30 for renewal as well as any changes during the year.
Footman James are used by club members (with admin charges) - I have also used Hagerty Insurance (no admin charge)

Thankyou.

Does anyone know if you can get something like dye for the dashboard to put the blue colour back into it as the top of the dashboard has lost its colour?
I'm going
does anyone know of anywhere that sells replacement carpet for the interior?

I'm also missing the wing mirrors, they were removed for painting and they have dissapeared!,does anywhere sell these or does anyone have any for sale?

Most of my window rubbers are rotting away also where is the best place to get these from?

Any help is much appreciated
Chris.

I hear various people have used Coverdale Carpets for carpet sets, but they don't come as per original - i.e. a moulded one-piece carpet for the whole interior - they come as separate pieces.

Are they wing mirrors or door mirrors? The Wingard door mirrors pop up all the time on eBay and the like, or at various autojumbles. I have a mould to make the little plastic piece that sits between mirror and door for that mirror if needed.

Some rubbers are available from East Kent Trim, though I'm not sure exactly which ones because I haven't needed to source any. Certainly the windscreen rubber is there, and the strip that runs along the top of the door skin and rubs against the glass. They have said that they've got the channel that runs around the top of the door glass channels too. Not sure about the rear rubber.

Thankyou droopsnoot for the info ,i shall definitely check out the companies mentioned.

The mirrors are on the doors so i shall keep a eye out on eBay for them ,thankyou.

I think my carpet in the car is fairly good but just needs a good clean but I'm not sure untill i get a proper look at the carpet.
