You've already got the best fitted to the 1800. The DCD conversion is the option chosen back in the day. However, there are other ways to go too. Fitting twin Strombergs from a 2.0L of 2.3L with suitable needles etc is popular but with no real gains to be had over the DCD. Fitting a decent exhaust and manifold will yield a bit more torque but that route is expensive now.

Unfortunately, the 1800 isn't that tuneable. The narrow bore means that bigger valves cannot be fitted without extensive modifications to the block and special gaskets.

Modified heads were never available and there's no point in changing the cam on a standard head.

You may consider fitting a 2300 engine which, if you can find a good one, will be the most effective further upgrade. But remember, many regard the 1800 engine as the 'nicer' engine to have.
