Hey there!

I recently found out about this forum and look forward to having a channel with other owners.

I am based in Ontario Canada and have 2 Canadian market 1971 Vauxhall Firenza SL 2000s (what they are called here for this spec).

The first car I found and purchased is a blue 3speed car; very original and mostly complete but with a very degraded and now removed driveline but luckily the body and chassis are almost rust-free. Planning an engine swap with a 2.3T from a Merkur XR4Ti track car + mustang front subframe or considering something else more ultimate... Not much progress either way LOL

The second car I found was a silver 4speed car fully complete and running generally quite well while being almost completely original. It has more rust damage and 27'xxx miles but nothing structural or unrepairable. It is one of the only Firenza I have ever seen on the road in Canada and a car I actively drive, with a picture attached.

I do have some questions since I am pretty young and there is not much reference or parts network in Canada but I mainly look forward to learning and interacting. I have a small youtube channel where I plan to make some videos about the silver car shortly "Finding My Wings" channel on youtube!

I love these cars!

Welcome! whereabouts in Canada are you? I am in Toronto - and we have an HA owner in PEI and one or two in BC.

Looks like two great cars and two interesting projects. I have a friend in Guelph with (I think) two - but they are far from the road.

cheers!

Great to meet you virtually!

I am near Waterloo Ontario. What models does your friend in Guelph have? What do you have?

I assume HCs don't get spotted often these days?

Not exactly sure what models my friend has.

I have a Viva GT (that is actually an Epic Envoy GT). I am currently 10 years into a 2 year project.

We lived in Waterloo before moving to Toronto.

Hey There @HC Fairly I have attached a couple of pictures!

Very cool to see @jpsmit I love that colour, is it a restoration or doing engine swap/mods?

I will post a couple of questions in other channels shortly thank you!

Yours looks like a great project.

Mine is a restoration - slant 4 engine (30 thou over IIRC) - the Tasmin Orange is I think the rarest GT colour and they only came to Canada in 1970. No one knows how many but out of 4606 made in three years it can't have been more than a few hundred. I know of 4 in Canada and one further from Canada that is in New Zealand.

Very nice !

Is that rear window propped open on a latch or just hanging out of the frame??

I have a 2 door here and the rear windows are fixed into it solid :imsmiling:

Thanks Bill, you learn something new everyday. Perhaps they rightly thought it wasn't a requirement in the colder climes of the UK. Why pay extra to let the rain in around the backseat :?
