Donington Historic Festival 2nd - 4th May

Postby Fred Dukes » Sun Nov 30, 2014 12:15 pm

Donington Historic Festival - Donington Park, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, May 2nd, 3rd and 4th 2015.
Dan and myself have registered the club for an infield club Stand - currently targeting to have 10 cars.
COME AND JOIN US FOR ANY OR ALL OF THE 3 DAYS AND ENJOY THE GREAT RACING :P
Club Members need to get the Club 2 for 1 Discount Code from myself - membership@vauxhallviva.com or 07757 276985 and let me know what cars you are bringing so we can keep a record of stand content.
With close-fought racing every day, over 400 historic racing cars spanning seven decades, historic rally car and karting action and a ‘living motoring museum’ created by dozens of car clubs displays – plus a host of other attractions – exhilaration and entertainment is guaranteed, whether you buy a ticket for one, two or all three days! On each day of the Festival gates open at 07.30am and the circuit activity starts at 9.10am, finishing at around 6.30pm.

The provisional timetable will be announced early in 2015.
Members of car clubs registered to attend the event benefit from a two-for-one ticket offer on advance tickets when they quote their unique club code at time of booking (deadline Saturday, April 25th), and, at the time of booking, will be asked to request the number of infield passes they require, allowing them to join the other cars on display in the club's dedicated infield parking area. Children aged 15 and under (accompanied by an adult) get in for free.

BOOKING TICKETS

Car club ticket deadline
Please note the club ticket booking deadline of 5pm on Saturday, April 25th
How members can buy tickets online
There's a button on the home page of the website that links directly to advanced ticket sales, - the link is:
http://doningtonpark.seetickets.com/tou ... c-festival

Members must enter the club's unique offer code (Club Members need to get the Club 2 for 1 Discount Code from myself - membership@vauxhallviva.com or 07757 276985 )and press the 'use code' button, then the prices on the page will change to your club prices, rather than the full prices originally displayed. At that point they will also be asked to request infield display parking passes.
NB, please note that car club discounted tickets are offered in multiples of two, and the price shown is the discounted price for one ticket. When you add two tickets to their basket, you will therefore be getting two tickets for the (full) price of one. If you want four tickets for the price of two full-priced ones, you must click '4'!
Children aged 15 and under (accompanied by an adult) get in for free. And each ticket gives two-for-one entry to the Donington Grand Prix Collection over the weekend and for the following two months.

Buying tickets over the phone
Ticket hotline number is: 0844 873 7355 Members will need to quote the car club code to take advantage of the club offer.

"See Tickets" charges
"See Tickets" levies the following additional charges on top of our ticket prices - a booking fee per ticket to cover their admin costs, plus a transaction fee on the total order. Booking fees are:

Ticket type Booking Fee
£20 Saturday, Sunday or Monday single day ticket £1.00
£32 Saturday + Sunday or Sunday + Monday 2-day ticket £1.60
£45 3-day weekend ticket £2.26

So two Saturday tickets bought using a car club two-for-one offer code will incur a £1 total booking fee and therefore cost £21.00 (i.e. £10.50 per person) plus the transaction fee.
The transaction fee is a one-off post and packaging cost for the total order, and that is the same whether a member is buying one pair of tickets or 25 pairs of tickets.
The transaction fee is £1.95 per order for first class post and
£6.40 for registered post.
So the total cost for those two Saturday tickets bought using a car club code and sent first class post will be £22.95.

Ticket Despatch - about three weeks before the event.

CAR CLUB PARADES
There will be one each day of the Festival, at lunchtime, featuring a maximum of 100 cars (across all clubs) each day. This is a hugely popular part of the event, and places will be decided on a ‘draw’ system, which is the fairest way! Numbers of parade cars per club will be confirmed in advance and special parade car passes will be produced, and members who are taking part must sign on at our club admin tent in the infield and collect their parade passes there. Further details will follow.

ACCOMMODATION
Camping is available next door to the circuit - at the Donington Park Farm House Hotel. Details of camping, hotels and local B&Bs can be found here: http://www.donington-park.co.uk/about-d ... mmodation/

DISABLED VISITORS
Disabled ticket holders that require full time assistance should be provided with one free ticket at the gate for their care assistant, partner or accompanying friend. In order to receive this free ticket, the disabled visitor will need to bring along a copy of their most recent DLA letter showing their current entitlement as well as their blue badge, should they require car parking on site. The disabled access area and viewing point will be confirmed before the event.

We have had more information on the weekend activities
Quote
"One thing that I wanted to ask if that you please make your members aware that this year we have displays they might like to see in the Exhibition Centre. This is the building to the right of the infield tunnel, and members of the general public will enter the Festival site by walking through the Exhibition Centre, whereas car club members will be driving into the infield, so might miss that new attraction. We will have Formula 1 cars and supercars there, and it also acts as the paddock for the historic rally cars. And there is an AutoSolo experience outside the Exhibition Centre, for anyone who would like to experience an autotest from the passenger seat!"

NUMBER OF CARS FOR CLUB STAND
................... Sat:4... Sun 6 ..Mon: 4
Danny Lawrence ............ yes.. yes..
Fred Dukes............ yes.. yes.. yes
David Shale................. yes
Mike Stanley................ yes
Bob Meldrum.......... yes.. yes.. yes
Steve Gray.............yes.. yes.. yes
Richard Stapley....... yes

STAND ACCESS/SET-UP
Cars will access the circuit via the main Donington Park entrance and then the entry gate 20 infield tunnel. Please note, all vehicles must enter the infield by 11am each day, and infield exit will be from 3pm onwards each day.
Club set-up - Gazebos can be set up on Friday from lunchtime onwards, provided the delivery driver can get their vehicle through the infield tunnel (which is narrow and cannot accommodate trailers or large vans). Otherwise they'll need to wait until 6pm when the track will be open. No pass is needed.
DELIVERY VEHICLES/TRAILERS ETC. WHICH ARE TOO BIG FOR THE TUNNEL - these can only access the infield after 6pm on Friday, as mentioned above, or at times when the track is not live during the three days of the Festival. These times are between 7.30am and 8.30am latest each day and after 19.20 on Saturday, 19.50 on Sunday and 18.30 on Monday.
Please note, support vehicles must not be left parked by your display stand unless they are forming an integral part of the stand (e.g. acting as hospitality or regalia sales unit).

CAR CLUB PARADES
Quote
"We have a huge demand for spaces on the club parades, and try to ensure that every car has a presence on at least one of the days. We leave the delicate question of who from your club should feature in the parades to you!
VVOC allocated the following number of spaces in the parades:
Saturday: 1
Sunday: 1
Monday: 2 "

I WOULD SUGGEST THAT MEMBER FOR PARADE ARE SELECTED BY TOSS OF A COIN
SATURDAY BETWEEN BOB, STEVE, DIC - I wont be there in time to book in
SUNDAY BETWEEN DAVE, MIKE, FRED, DAN, STEVE, BOB depending if either did the SAT parade
MONDAY BETWEEN DAN, FRED, STEVE, BOB - less any that did SAT/SUN parades - need 2 tosses as there are 2 spaces

For a car and passengers to take part in a parade, the driver and passenger must each have signed a waiver form and display a wristband, while the car must display a car clubs' parade sticker. Without a sticker, the car will not be allowed out on the track, and without wristbands, people will not be allowed out in a parade car.
The waiver forms, wristbands and stickers can be obtained from the car clubs' sign-on marquee, which will be on the grass in the infield, close to the exit of the pedestrian tunnel which leads through to the paddock. Jason, Pippa and Peter are managing the parades and they will probably already be known to quite a few of you.
This marquee will only be manned from 9am-11.30am each day (and to 11am on Monday) and it is the driver/passenger's responsibility to ensure that they sign on in time and collect their wristbands and car sticker. If we have 100 drivers and their passengers all turning up at 11.30am to sign on, the parade might be severely depleted, as not everybody will be ready in time, so do encourage them to arrive sooner rather than later!
We will have one waiver form that covers all three days. Once that is signed, the driver or passenger will be issued with a wristband that allows them out in a car on the track and the driver will be issued with a car clubs' parade sticker which must be displayed prominently on the car's windscreen.
The wristbands cover people for all three days. So it will be possible for a driver or passenger due to go out on the Monday to sign on on the Saturday or Sunday, for example. The car stickers are colour-coded and valid for one day only. Car stickers for the Sunday or Monday can be issued at Saturday or Sunday sign on, but will not be valid until the appropriate day.
PARADE ASSEMBLY AND TIMING
Participating cars need to assemble in the area in front of the Executive Suites (the buildings to the right of the grass area at Hollywood, which is to the right of the Porsche Club GB stand) by the following times:

Saturday - 11.55am
Sunday – 11.45am
Monday – 11.15am
Please think ahead about your members who are in the parades - they should park where they can easily leave your stand in order to go to the assembly area.
Please note, it is the driver's responsibility to ensure that his or her car and passengers are in the parade area by the specified time and that the appropriate car club sticker and wristbands are displayed.

HELP WITH THE PARADE MARSHALLING
When the parade is collecting in the assembly area, it would be very helpful if a few people from across the clubs would help with a bit of mustering - even if only watching over the junctions on the infield tracks. If you could let Pippa, Jason or Peter know, that would be terrific.

Thanks for that Pete - looks like the forward motion might not be happening in the 2nd photo I can still see the the wheel detail :o

on Monday

For those that didnt make it or didnt book in the 1st place - you missed some good racing and a wide array of types of classic racing cars from morris 1000 to Ferrari and muscle cars, pre war single seaters to formula 1 with Touring cars thrown in.
Racing most days finished well into the evening - Monday night finishing at 7.30 with an excellent saloon class mixture of makes and models won by an A40 Farina!! Brilliant :P
