HB GT Anniversary

Postby cooperman » Tue Dec 12, 2017 9:26 pm

Hello all,
The VBOA national rally at Market Harborough (Not Billing) will be held over the weekend of 14th and 15th July 2018 and in conjunction with The Viva Drivers Club and the Viva Outlaws we will be getting as many HB's of all models and variants together, to celebrate the GT's anniversary.
This doesn't mean that if you own an HA or HC that you can't go, far from it, everyone is welcome. Any model, any condition, come and join us for a fantastic weekend

It's going to be great, Marcus.

My only problem is working out how to get three cars there and back for the weekend!

Hang on lads, I've got a great idea... Er... Er...

Seriously though, We have a plan! - involving my family, two caravans on a nearby camp site, four drivers and two modern transport / support vehicles :D

It's going to be a brilliant weekend!

I have a contact with a multi car transporter who works the country moving cars - I think his capacity is 10 cars - he has a soft spot for Vivas and 14 years ago moved my cars from Dorset to Shropshire

and for those that remember transported 5 Vivas to Blackpool.

I am sure he could be used to gather driverless HB GT/HB's if someone wants to be a focus - I will have an HB Brabham to go but hope to have Flo the Firenza ready for the show,

Is that a pre-restoration Flo in the top picture, Fred?

I wonder how much the multi-car transporter would cost to transport our five cars, Fred? - Your B-Bumble and Flo and my three, Oscar, Walter and Felix - from Shropshire on the Thursday or Friday with return on the Monday morning?

We're planning to drive my three cars there and back, but we all know how prone to break down one car is, let alone three. So possibly a shared (60% me / 40% you) cost to hire the five car transporter (and driver) might be an option?

Yeah that was Flo in 2004 - actually had an MoT and if I remember the year right had been to Billing
For those 5 cars - I think it was 4 years ago - he charged £1 per mile for the 1st car and 50p for each additional car.
Very roughly say 100 miles there and 100 miles back - £600 (on cost 4 years ago) maybe with 20% increase today £720. Its having the return journey which pushes the price up :o
I would be expecting to drive Flo as you could drive one of yours - so maybe we could raise interest from other to make up the quantity?

If you could get a firm price Fred I might be interested in sharing the cost.

Hi all,
Right I've got the hotel booked, and looking forward to the new site.

Now, I'm hoping to bring my HA 'Mona Viva' up and to join the throng.

Do I have to book a spot on the site, and if so who with? Is it with the VBOA organisers, or is it through this Club, i.e. Marcus? and do I need permits, stickers or whatever?

Hi Bob,
glad to hear you will be joining us at Market Harborough. I'll put up more info over the next few weeks and months, but you don't have to book a place, last year there weren't any entrance stickers as we had at Billing so will have to wait and see what the system is this year. There is more info on the LMF Vauxhall website and their facebook page.
