HB OHV Clutch Cover - Flywheel Bolts

Postby Kraken » Mon May 30, 2016 5:43 pm

Boring question, does anybody know the thread pattern for the clutch cover to flywheel bolts?

Need to get some long ones ordered up to get the engine up on a stand and my local places apparently don't do imperial... !?

Thank you.

I think usually you attach the engine stand to the block via the holes used for mounting the gearbox. If you connect it to the flywheel you will not be able to turn the engine over without the block moving.

If this isn't what you mean I apologise. :D

I agree with Chris, take the flywheel off and bolt to the block gearbox mounting holes. That way you can rotate the crank or if you wish, completely strip the engine. If you bolt the flywheel you will need to lock the crank someway to rotate the block.

I'd also agree with Chris. Would the clutch cover bolts be strong enough to hold the weight of the engine on a stand? They're very much smaller than the bellhousing to block bolts, or at least they are on OHC.

Thanks everyone, gearbox - block bolts does make more sense. What thread are they?

OHC ones are the same as the rear suspension bolts.
