New To The Viva Club

Postby Honey-Gold » Fri Jan 25, 2019 5:31 pm

HI all,
I have just sent off for membership and hope to be a fully paid member soon. I am interested and plan on buying a 1973/74 Viva, 2 door in the future as I miss my first car.

How many members does the club have?

How often do 2 door HC's come up for sale ?

Does the Club have a register of cars ? My old car was UOO 446L and last sold by me in 1989 in Maidstone.

Looking forward to membership.

Hi Simon and welcome,

We do have a register, but your old car UOO 446L is new to it!
According to DVLA website tax ran out in 1994!

I will add your old car to the register. I assume it was a 2 door? Can you remember the trim level?

Hi, yes it was a 2 door, Honey-Gold with a very thin Old English White rigging line down its full length. Interior was all black. If my memory is correct, static seat belts in the front and none in the back. My grandfather bought it nearly new in 1977 and added 2 miles a week till he gave it to me in 1986. It was mint.

I will dig out some picture once I receive my full membership and access thereafter. I currently have a 1937 Morris Eight Tourer but want to add a Viva to my garage in the future.

Look forward seeing how this community functions and visiting any club days this summer.

Welcome Simon - there are circa 300 members in the Club - best place to look out for a Viva is https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/classic ... 8&S=Search
It also links you in to Vivas on ebay

Thank you Fred, I do look here from time to time. Wow the Granthan car just listed looked perfect. Shame my bank balance or wife are not prepared just yet !

Nice to see the exact wheel trims I had - rarely seen when I have looked.

That is a nice car and belongs to our ex chairman - Carl - give him a call and see if he will take an offer - I know he is keen to sell

Banstead shouldn't be too far from my weekday address in West Horsley next to the Lotus dealership Bell & Colvill.

Hopefully drag you to some events once you have a car, there are frequent ones at Brooklands I know.

Thanks Carl, but as briefly mentioned I don't have funds or wife in the right place just now.

Have joined so I can learn, pick all your brains over the next year or two before buying. Want to see what spares are available. Am thinking of a chassis up rebuild.

Look forward to full membership and posting and learning on members forum soon.

Regards

Simon
