Torque Setting

Postby vauxhallbitz » Mon Feb 11, 2019 11:02 pm

Is there a torque setting for the flywheel bolts on a 1256 engine, I can't find one in the manual?

Burning the midnight oil?

My HB (1159) manual gives 25 lb/ft (34Nm)
Chevette manual (1256) gives 30 lb/ft (41 Nm)

with a smidgeon of lock/sealer compound applied to the bolts mid-thread (neither at the end nor the head)

assuming clean, dry oil-free threads

owing to the lubricity of the wet sealant, I'd aim for slightly under the specified torque.

p.s. To convert lb/ft to Nm multiply by 1.356. To convert Nm to lb/ft multiply by 0.738.
