38,000 Rand is £2032 GBP - with probably a similar amount to ship to the UK.

Despite the missing running gear and ruined seats with apparently excellent bodywork I still want it!

Colin when i first tried to convert 38,000 R into GBP it came up with £416.42  then i realised in faint lettering, it said (Indian Rupee)

Oddly there's something very nice about it. Makes me wonder what happened to that drivers seat! Rat on steroids?

He seems to have put the price back up to 40,000 Rand (£2170 GBP as of today 10.5.19)

It might have suffered a horrendous rodent attack, James, but I think the seats might have also succumbed to the hot climate.

Very little damp, quickly evaporated in the heat, and no road salt means bodywork survives in hot climates, but the heat also dries out the plasticisers in flexible vinyl over time making it brittle. But it seems the dash and console on this ultra rare GT have survived!

I just happen to have the GT running gear for this car. It's just a shame it's about 6000 miles away!

Does anyone have any experience of shipping cars from South Africa? :D

You're thinking about this the wrong way Colin.
You ship the running gear to South Africa, and build the car over there in the nice weather!
Then you can enjoy the long drive home 8)

If you are thinking about shipping it over then it might be worth speaking to "spink987" on Ebay, they seem to ship a lot of Fords over from SA.

Thanks all for the helpful advice, but with already too many cars I have to accept that it's a pipe dream.

Bloody frustrating though!
