Yes, moving the wires is all that's needed to bypass the resistance wire and allow you to operate a non ballast coil.

That's a pain, engine mount and all has to come out to get the starter out, if it solves the problem it is worth it though. :goodluck:

Pointing to fuel now, well there's not much left!!!

Tried to start this morning with no luck and noticed the fuel filter was about a quarter full so I took the output pipe off the pump and it was pumping fuel.
The pump is brand new but the jubilee clips on the fuel line were not totally tight so I tightened them and it started. I am wondering if it has been drawing air at some of the jubilee clips.

We shall see tomorrow morning............

That does sound likely. Air getting in and allowing the fuel to drain back to the tank overnight.

Are you using jubilee clips or proper fuel hose clamps? Jubilee clips tend to distort the hose and apply uneven pressure with the possibility of air/fuel leeks on small diameter pipes and hoses. Proper fuel hose clamps clamp with an even pressure and provide a more reliable seal.

That reminds me that I must replace the Jubilee clip on my fuel pipe as it is doing just that, letting air in and letting the fuel drain back. Takes a day or two but it is annoying when you try to start it with no fuel in the carbs.

Thanks for the information.

Well it started this morning but not straight away, but better than before so we might be getting there at last.

I just have normal jubilee clips, never heard of hose clips but will try to get some now.

Off to a show in the morning so fingers crossed it will start.........
