cool beans! keep me updated!

as you can see further up in my thread the original manifold had broken round one of the mountings, I did get it welded up but with the fitting of a better carb i think it would be sensible to do all i can to help the engine breathe better

It is well worth doing Matt.
This engine does benefit a lot from a good set of headers & a nice freeflow exhaust system, especially when an uprated carb or carbs are fitted. Gains of 10% have been reported which is not to be scoffed at. That is around 11bhp on average. If you acieve that then thats great. What i would suggest is getting the car set up really well on a rolling road.

hmm.. cant remember exactly where i got the shocks from :?: ill take a look through my invoices! this place has a good vehicle list though, HB's Frienzas, Magnums etc

http://www.spax-suspension.co.uk/p1323603.htm

might be able to find em cheaper elswhere, I think mine were about 50 quid each...

as for the lowering, ive got a set of front and rear hpf springs which are about 2" shorter than the ones ive taken off, from what ive been told they will lower the car by about 1" (so im thinking they must be stiffer than the standard hc/magnum ones)

ill be posting pics of how she sits once they are on and you can judge for yourselves :D

Ok, it's been a little over 3 years since I last touched the Magnum (my fault for buying a Firenza)

My new years resolution is to get it finished!! No photos taken today but its now a stands in the garage - discovery of the day is, the rear axle is not standard, no idea what its from it's not a scimitar axle or a ford one as far as I can tell :|

Back on it tomorrow, hopefully with some photographic evidence!!

some pics as promised today!

we stripped the unidentified axle of its link arms and shocks - as you can see the top mounts are cast in as on the normal Viva/Magnum axles but the diff case is beefy and flat on the bottom?? it looks like something has been ground/cut off the side as well..

any ideas what this is from originally?? im stumped!

:new2_shrug: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :new2_shrug:

once heads were suitable scratched and plenty of tea and biscuits consumed we chose to stash the axle away and get on with the rest of the car.

Planning to start at the front and work backwards... theres some old crash damage to repair, this means a new front panel and chassis leg on the drivers side is needed and has to be done before i can get the car onto its roll-over jig

so with the aid of my friend Dave who's back in the UK on hols from his new home in NZ we attacked the front panel!

after many a spot weld was drilled out.. and some hacksaw action was undertaked we started getting somewhere :woohoo:

eventually victory was ours and Dave posed with his new trophy.. a portion of my crusty bent magnum front panel :pix:
