This car was another that I saved and I wanted it as soon as I heard about it because it is a 1600 and a little bit unusual. For some reason (and I don't know why) I'd always wanted a 1600 - perhaps because it was the only variat I've never owned. It had sat under a tarp for about 15 years but the tarp had torn and water and leaves got underneath. It was quite rust, some severe and the paint had been sanded off the roof and other surfaces due to the tarp blowing around. The bonnet was so bad it was not savable.
The first Rust Festival recommissioned the car (big thanks still to all those who helped) and since then, I've slowly been getting on with it. It is fantastic inside but poor on the outside.
Red bonnet, red oxide everywhere.
Today I got it back from the spray shop. He did a lot of prep work too, including saving the wings (welded in metal not filled) same with one of the doors. I am really pleased with it. It is brilliant for the price and although I have to flat it down and polish it myself (because he said the paint should wait for about two weeks before I do it), it still should look all right for Billing.
No trim back on other than front bumper and grill.
