I tried the same position on my car, no spark at all, phoned Accuspark and they couldn't help, said it needed a full 12v supply to work, they have sent me another on in case the old one was faulty, it happens it seems, I'll try again with the new one, any noticeable improvements with your car you've noticed, Peter.

Also wishing to join the "pointless gang" with my 1159 HC, my current coil does not seem to have a ballast resistor on it. I have a volt meter so is there a way of checking from the coil if the resistor is wired elsewhere on the ignition wiring loom?

Cheers

Later HBs and HCs had the resistor in the wire, not a separate item on the coil as earlier models.

Just put one of these Accuspark units on my late HB. As Paul B said, out with the old in with the new,
check/adjust the timing, 1/2 hour max, no rush, job done. Works a treat now we see how it lasts with
some serious driving from Lands End to John O'Groats and back.
